The Internet - A Great Place to Find Guitar Lessons

by Groshan Fabiola
If you are interested in learning how to play the guitar the easy, convenient way and in the quickest time possible, then it is advisable to turn to the Internet for help. At present there are thousands of high-quality, dedicated online resources that have been especially designed to meet the needs and requirements of existing and prospective guitar players worldwide, so everyone who wishes to learn more about playing the guitar can find and access a wide range of invaluable guitar playing tips, video tutorials and lessons simply through a few clicks of the mouse. However, in order to have the guarantee that you will only be provided with quality information and online guitar lessons that really produce significant results, it is very important to separate the efficient, properly designed and administered websites from the rest and only stick with the ones that are reliable and can help you improve your guitar playing in the minimum of time, with the least of effort and most important, for less money.

With so many guitar lessons out there (both free and paid), the task of finding the best ones (and more important, the ones that are most appropriate to you) can be very difficult. The best approach to this problem is to do a quick research on the specialized online resources with a good reputation and choose the websites that provide the guitar lessons which best suit your needs and requirements. Before choosing the lessons of a certain online tutorial-providing website over the lessons of another, it is recommendable to ask for the advice of your friends or other persons in whom you trust in order to find out whether those particular guitar lessons are efficient or not. Checking the testimonial sections and blogs of online guitar lesson websites is another way to determine the actual quality of the guitar lessons, tips and tutorials they provide.

By choosing to use only the lessons and tips of the major, highly reputed online guitar lesson-providing websites, you will ensure that you will be able to learn to play the guitar in an exciting, efficient and simple manner and that your efforts of learning how to play the guitar will pay off in the least of time. Especially if you are a complete novice at playing the guitar (and aren't yet capable of evaluating the quality and efficiency of online guitar lessons you may come across), it is very important to stick with the ones offered by the best guitar learning online resources. By doing this, you will avoid wasting time and money with guitar lessons that don't produce the expected results.

Once you have found the online guitar lesson-providing websites that are right for you, all you have to do is choose the lessons, tips and guitar-playing video tutorials that match your levels of skill and experience and start practicing in order to improve your playing. In case you are a beginner, it is also recommendable for you to decide over what you are interested in learning first or what guitar techniques you wish to master. For instance, if you want to become a pro at playing electric guitar, using acoustic guitar lessons would in most cases be a waste of time, considering that the guitar techniques used for playing the electric guitar are very different from those used to play the acoustic guitar.

Furthermore, it is very important to establish a list of priorities of the things you want to learn and take guitar playing one step at a time. As an example, rushing in at learning advanced guitar playing techniques such as guitar tapping or harmonic picking without knowing the basics behind guitar playing (the basic chords, the most extensively utilized guitar scales) are very likely to get you nowhere.

Another important thing to take in consideration is the genre of music you are interested in learning to play. For instance, online guitar lessons which concentrate on teaching playing rock guitar are very different from those which concentrate on teaching playing jazz guitar. To obtain the best results, it is therefore crucial to decide exactly what you want to learn and also establish a list of learning priorities. After doing this, with the help of quality guitar lessons provided by a reliable, dedicated guitar lessons website, and with a little ambition and practice you will be able to play the guitar like a pro in no time!

Beginner guitar lessons online - scam warning

by HotFingers
If you are looking for beginner guitar lessons online it takes a bit more precasution than having private tuition at a local guitar centre or home visit. So you should always look for a book or peice of software that has been well reviewed, has good testimonials and has a 100% money back guarantee.

I would also recommend that you take a look at some of the free lessons available but beware, they are very limited and the quality is often so poor it actually ends up confusing and slowing your guitar skill development dramatically. By all means, take some free advice but please be weary of any website that sucks you into giving email addresss for "unlimited free lessons" or similiar offers.

Just remember, a free lesson is ok but it is unlikely that any real guitar professional guitar teacher out there is likely to want to just give up all their years of experience for free, forever!

If you are considering offline methods then thats a good option as you will avoid many of the scams online. However, the downside to this is that it can become very expensive very quickly and you will always have to rely on someone else's teaching schedule. With proper online lessons or learning material it is always there at your disposal night and day, whener you want to take your guitar skills to a new level!

Learning how to play the guitar is easy!

by Hot Fingers
So you're learning how to play the guitar? Maybe you havent even picked a guitar up before?

The first step is to decide on which guitar you would like to learn on. Some may prefer a classical guitar and some want to go straight to electric. I started on classical and found it much easier as a result when I switched to playing electric guitar because playing a classical (or acoustic) guitar means being able to stretch your fingers wider and this will help you in the long run as you will see as you improve.

There's no need to buy the most expensive guitar out there on the market. Stick with a budget and ask for advice from a shop assistant where possible.

Work out if you will be paying for a traditional guitar lesson at a music store or with a home tutor. Or as I would reccommend, use one of the many excellent online multimedia guitar lesson methods available.

The reason I reccommend this is because that's not only how I learnt but also means you only pay once, and it's like having an expensive tutor at your side whenever you want to learn - very convenient I think.

Finally, be ready to practice. No matter how you learn, do what I did and commit to about 20-30 minutes per day. Don't get frustrated or put off in the beggining.

Because once you start to pick up all of the cool tricks you can do with a guitar you will not only get more dates, but you will also have found yourself a great past-time that can lead to money making opportunities, meeting cool new people, getting into a band and so much more. I 100% guarantee that if you learn the right way, along with a little patience and commitment, you WILL get there just like I did.

Beginning Guitar to Transform Your Little Tunes Into Beautiful Songs

by Muna wa Wanjiru
Music is its many forms provides enjoyment for people and learning to play guitar is just one way that you can have this pleasure for yourself and others. Before you can actually play the guitar properly though, you will need to have beginning guitar lessons as well as a guitar!

On the face of it, as an instrument the guitar doesn't seem to have much to recommend it to someone who's looking to buy this instrument. However, all this can change from the very first moment you begin your first guitar lessons. Beginning guitar players should not become discouraged even before they take their first lessons.

These lessons are ones where you will have the opportunity of learning the theoretical aspect of guitar playing as well as being able to pluck at the strings to produce a pleasant sound.

You will be able to find instructors who can give you beginning guitar lessons from your local community and also from your local newspapers. These are not the only ways that you can learn about beginning guitar lessons. There are numerous books and audio tapes and CDs which will also provide this facility to you.

As with all of these beginning guitar books, CDs and lessons, the main fact that needs to be understood is that you should feel comfortable and confident of your ability to learn and play the guitar. Without this confidence you will not be able to understand the various instructions that you are given in your guitar lesson.

For this reason if you are learning to play the guitar from an instructor you should be able to ask the instructor for advice and help if you feel that you are missing out on some point of the lesson.

Since you can't ask books or audio or DVD lessons for help you should be able to look or listen to the various steps and see where you fingers should be placed on the guitar and what chord each guitar string signifies.

Also once you are comfortable holding the guitar and you have learned to identify the various chords in your beginning guitar lessons, you can then proceed to learn how to combine these basic chords together to produce a little song or a tune.

As your beginning guitar lessons progress, you will gain the chance of trying out different styles of music. These different styles are well recognized sounds like that of jazz, rap, blues, rock 'n' roll and many others.

With so many interesting facets of guitar playing to try out it is not that surprising that people love listening to the sound of a guitar. Having beginning guitar lessons is one of the best ways you can learn to play guitar and transform your little tunes into beautiful songs.

The Items that Should be Learnt in Guitar Basics

by Muna wa Wanjiru
The idea of being able to produce great sounding music is an idea that many of us dream about. To be able to play these fabulous pieces of music however, you should first have knowledge about some of the guitar basics.

These guitar basics will help you not only to understand how to play the guitar, but also how to make sense of the various music pieces which accompanies the guitar.

When you look at the many places that have the ability to teach guitar to you it may be a good idea to see what their guitar basics cover. This overview of the class will provide you with a good idea of whether you will learn anything of worth from these classes.

Among the many items that should be learnt in guitar basics is that of finger placement. Chord positions are also very important, as is how to tune your guitar so that you can set your guitar to produce meaningful sounds.

The other items that should be covered in the very first lesson of guitar basics is that of music notation and how they apply to guitar music. These first few items are of great importance as you will need to know these steps before you will be able to make any progress with your music lessons.

Once you are satisfied with how the various guitar basics are covered in the guitar class of your choice you can see how to enroll in that class. This will facilitate your learning to play the guitar even quicker and more professionally if that is your aim.

In the class one of the very first ideas of guitar basics that you will have to become accustomed to is that the great sounds you hear from professional guitar players are mainly created from the chords and the mixing of the body strings on the guitar.

Once you are comfortable with these different chords you will be able to change the beat of your playing and see how the sounds of the chords change along with the increased beat. In your guitar basics class you will also be shown how to tune your guitar strings and to use the pick to move the strings properly.

These are all items that you will need to know and understand for your guitar playing to become a successful endeavor. After you have progressed through the guitar basics in a proper sequence you will be able to think about joining an advanced guitar class or even try out another style of guitar playing altogether.

MusicMasterPro Guitar Lessons

by Eric Harrison
How often do you find a music program that fails to deliver on thirty guitar lessons promises listed on their sales page?

Then proceeds to deliver extremely well on one promise.

To the extent that the one fulfilled promise is worth the price of admission alone!

As you will see, that despite my many reservations, I think the MusicMasterPro guitar lessons package is value for money.

Especially if you want to learn to play metal guitar, start writing metal songs straight away, and get signed within 30 days!

If you want to go further and learn to play not only metal guitar, but also bass, drums, keyboards, samplers, recording software---and write and record your metal songs at the same time---this is great value for money.

But before we get there, let us just look at the Musicmasterpro guitar lessons program.

Purchasing is very simple. You are buying from Clickbank and it only takes a few clicks to buy.

Accessing the programme very is simple. You are given your entry details on the thank you page. Enter your details and you are in. Easy.

Navigating the site is very straight ahead and well labelled.

What You Get With The Guitar Programme

The first thing I did was downloaded all the guitar lessons videos and went through and watched them all. They were easy to watch and it easy to clearly see what the hands were doing.

There was only 25 minutes of content. If Musicmasterpro was for guitar teachers who could fill in the blanks this would be a good thing.

But for beginners having to join the dots on their own, that is insufficient.

The content offered could have been doubled and more emphasis on showing the presenters chops at slow tempo.

Jay Dynasty mentioned "you wan na do this (speed stuff) you gotta do this (the metronome stuff)". Beginners take a while to believe that stuff. And a video demo or two of the really slow metronome stuff would help the beginner and give a live model for them.

Here are the guitar lessons that came with the guitar programme at this date. The resources are: 17 Beginner Metal Videos, 4 Acoustic Guitar Audio Lessons, 21 Metal Guitar Audio Lessons, 10 Jam tracks, 5 pages of harmony theory and 2 pages of rhythm theory.

In addition you are offered 24/7 e-mail and instant messenger support.

As a beginner Metal guitar programme I rate this programme favorably.

I rate the quality and usability of the material highly. I rate the video presentation highly and the content medium high (because of previous comments). I rate the audio content as above average and the text content at average.

While there is work to be done in these areas, what is offered are good starters. The absence of step by step lesson plans is a possible weakness and for someone who boasts over 20 years teaching experience, providing stepe by step guitar lessons should not be a big ask for the webmaster.

Apart from the moveable E chord shape, no other triads are taught. For a power chords and octaves style like metal this is not an issue.

In my view the main weakness of the programme is that the undelivered promises are promoted and the delivered one is not.

If that were reversed, the programme would be stronger. And reviews easier to write. And the value easier to communicate.

I mentioned the undelivered promises again. Here are just three promises missing in action:

1. Learn how to play guitar like Jimmy Hendrix and more 2. Learn how to play guitar like BB King, and more 3. Learn how to lay guitar like Carlos Santana and more

To see the complete list, click on the link in the resource box at the end of this article.

So who does this programme suit?

In my view the types of players who would get great value out of the inexpensive Musicmasterpro guitar programme are:

1. The Beginner Metal Guitar Player 2. The Beginner Electric Guitar Player 3. The Experienced Non-Metal Guitar Player

But is that the end of the story? Does Musicmasterpro offers you far more than just guitar lessons?

Find out more in the next article entitled Musicmaster Pro Music Instruction.

Online Guitar Lessons are Great for Teens

by Ray La Foy
In a time when parenting means positive reinforcements, many adults find themselves seeking a system of rewards that will not only entice good behaviors, but also teach their teens valuable lessons along the way. Guitar lessons fit this bill for a number of reasons.

First off, few teenagers can resist the allure of guitar lessons. Couple them in a reward system that involves not only lessons, but also a computer and they're very likely to take them quite seriously.

There's just something about the potential to become the next great player that makes the musically inclined do their part to earn the lessons they receive. Online guitar lessons are particularly ideal for teens that are new to the instrument and are not entirely sure it will be the one for them.

The benefits of online guitar lessons for teens include:

* Easy parental supervision. When guitar lessons are taken online or via computer programs, they are easy to supervise since the action takes place at home.

* Easy to follow. Many good programs are available that provide basic lessons for teens to take. These lessons are created in such a manner that they are easy to follow, even for beginners. Most programs start out very basic and offer not only instructions about the instrument, but also provide some music theory along the way.

* Ability to work at their own pace. Good guitar lessons online or in program form offer something face-to-face lessons do not - the ability to take the same lesson over and over again or move on when the need arises. There's no requirement to book another lesson when a program is doing the teaching.

* Pause ability. When something isn't understood in a guitar lesson, it's easy for the teen to stop the program and repeat the section over and over again until the lesson is learned. This can be much less frustrating for a teen who wants to learn right but who might be embarrassing by going slow in a group lesson.

* Easy to take away. Guitar lessons in computer form are a great tool to use as a reward, and they're also easy to take away if grades aren't where they should be or behaviors are undesired. Since no class has been "booked," there's no instructor to disappoint or class slot that might be lost. This gives parents the leverage they might need in trying to implement a system of rewards and punishments.

* Increased concentration. Music instruction in any format is known for helping those who take part increase their ability to concentrate and reason through problems. Music has also been known to help increase math skills and generally is thought to provide other extra benefits, as well.

Guitar lessons can be a great tool for parents to use in creating a system of rewards for positive behavior. Filling a desire many teens have, these lessons also provide some side benefits teens themselves might not be aware of.

With benefits that can even impact school work and translate to other areas of life, as well, guitar lessons or music instruction in general is a smart choice for parents to endorse.

Learn to Play the Guitar

By: Kevin Sinclair
Here are some of the more common ways to learn to play the guitar. Try each method to see what works best for you.

Group Lessons: Learning guitar in a group setting can be less intimidating for the beginning musician. You not only get the benefit of having a teacher to help you along you can often judge your progress by where the other students are in the class. The worst part about taking guitar lessons in a group setting is the teachers time is divided so you may not get as much attention as you might need.

Private Lessons: This is the best way to learn to play the guitar if you can find the right teacher. The instructor can gauge your progress each week and custom design your lessons for you. You have your teachers’ undivided attention and you can ask anything you feel is not clear.

CD Lessons: There are many instruction CDs available in nearly any style you can think of. The advantage of this style of learning is you can listen to the CD as many times as you want. Any part that is not clear can be replayed as many times as needed. The disadvantages include the songs may not be the ones you desire to learn and the instruction is more general without any way of knowing where you are in your musical journey.

DVD Lessons: Instruction on DVD includes all the good and bad points of the CD instruction. The number one advantage to learning guitar by watching DVD video is you can see what the instructor is doing. Visual learning goes a long way toward answering the questions burning in your mind.

Music Books: Music books are a time-honored way to learn how to play the guitar. You can find more books on more different styles than most any other way to learn. You need to be proficient in reading music if you do not know the song you are learning. Most folks have a hard time getting the song right if they do not know the song they are learning.

Internet: In these modern times the Internet is a wonderful resource in learning to play the guitar. There are many websites that will show you how to play the exact notes your guitar hero plays. Membership sights are plentiful where for a small monthly fee you can learn most any style you choose.

Friends: Do not overlook your guitar playing buddies. Most guitar pickers are a friendly bunch who will be more than happy to help you along.

Slowing Down Recordings: You can purchase software that slows down your favorite recordings. This allows you to hear each phrase at a speed where you can pick out the different notes. This is a great way to learn to play.

Playing With Other People: The very best way to learn to play the guitar is to get together with other people and play. This is the fastest way to learn. You will learn more by getting out and playing with other people than you ever will sitting at home playing by yourself.

The method you decide to use to learn to play guitar is up to you. Try to practice four or five times a week for 30 minutes at a time and you will be playing guitar before you know it.

Guitar Scale Lesson - The 80/20 Rule Applied To Guitar Scale Mastery

by Craig Bassett
In this guitar scale lesson we'll take a look at one of the major roadblocks to guitar scale mastery--unnecessary learning and practice. What I mean by this is learning or practicing things that don't directly improve your ability to use guitar scales in a practical way. Let's take a look at a really common example...

I've noticed over the years that some guitarists over-analyze theory. Rather than sticking to learning practical, useful and immediately applicable theory they want to know it all. A really good example would be a guitarist who wants to know the historical development of scales. It's not enough for them to know what notes form a guitar scale and how to use the scale. They also want to know when the scale first came into existence, and it's historical development.

On the surface, this may appear to be a really positive thing for the guitarist to want to know. But I've found that it can really slow down their guitar scale learning progress. Why? Here are two major reasons...

Major Reason 1:

It doesn't help them play better. Learning the historical development of a guitar scale doesn't do anything to help you learn to USE the scale. Sure, the knowledge might help you pass a music history course, but it sure isn't going to help you play burning guitar solos! Here's an analogy. You don't need to understand the inner-workings of the internal combustion engine in order to drive a car. (Unless you're a mechanic that is!).

Major Reason 2:

It takes valuable time away from more important learning activities. The time spent researching unnecessary theory could be better spent on useful activities that actually help you use the guitar scale.

So how does all this relate to the 80/20 rule? Before I go into that I need to quickly explain the 80/20 rule just in case you don't know it...

The 80/20 rule states that for many phenomena 80% of the results stem from 20% of the causes. Or put in the context of learning guitar scales...

20% of what you practice and learn about guitar scales will create 80% of your ability to actually use guitar scales!

Now, before you say anything...no, I can't prove the above statement. I can't give you verifiable, scientific evidence. And do you know what? It doesn't matter! It's simply a belief I have that helps me FOCUS. It helps me concentrate my time totally on activities that will truly help me use guitar scales in a practical way. Our time on this planet is limited, so why waste our guitar scale practice time on things that won't DIRECTLY improve our playing?

To finish off, here are a few questions. Please invest some time thinking about them. Think specifically about how the question could help improve your ability to play guitar scales.

**How does the 80/20 rule apply to the guitar scales that you need to master?

**How does the 80/20 rule apply to the music theory that you need to learn?

**How does the 80/20 rule apply to the keys that you need to learn for each guitar scale?
